This simple phrase carries a huge truth however. You can achieve anything you want to in life yet the vast majority of people don’t. Why? They don’t want it.
If you truly want something, no matter how far out of reach that thing may seem, you can get it. You just have to be relentless. You have to wake every day and chase that thing, it has to become part of you.
If such dedication to a cause sounds too much to you then you obviously don’t want it. This is so common in the field of health and fitness. How often do you hear people bemoaning the fact that they want to lose a bit of weight or improve a health condition yet they can’t seem to get there. On further analysis it turns out that the person has made very few changes or hasn’t maintained any changes. Yet they are surprised that they aren’t closer to their goal. They aren’t willing to work and sacrifice for it so they never reach it.
Look at any truly successful person and you will discover a burning desire for success, it may not be on the surface but it will be there. You don’t get to be successful without this. Success requires commitment, passion, discipline and huge persistence. All of these things are underlined by how much you want it.
I don’t care how noble or how shallow your goal is. Whether it’s to cure a disease or just buy a nicer car, if you really want it you can get it. Set out the end goal and break this down into smaller goals, set timeframes for achieving those goals, write down how you plan to achieve each stage, show your plan to someone else and then get after it.
Your path to success will not be straightforward, there will be setbacks, learn from them, they will make you more successful in the end.
When things get hard reconnect to why you are doing what you’re doing. Shout “you’ve got to want it”, suck it up and dig in. You are always moving forward. If you really want it you’ll get it.
